We are thrilled to share with you a little glimpse of what your wedding could look like at the The Craft & Co Collingwood, one of our favourite wedding venues in Melbourne
If you are thinking Melbourne inner city wedding, or Melbourne warehouse style wedding, look no further than Craft & co in Collingwood. Located on Smith street, this beautiful Collingwood wedding venue hosts a wonderful industrial space, with dramatic vaulted ceilings, natural window light and is also a space that is able to host large or small gatherings; This venue really has it all.
A wedding ceremony and reception space in one Collingwood venue
The reason why this industrial wedding venue is also unique and practical, is that it has its own space for a wedding ceremony and a larger space for reception settings. We have had the pleasure to photograph in this space and have also met the friendly team at Craft & co and they are more than happy to help accommodate your needs according to each wedding, whether you are looking for an intimate small wedding venue in Melbourne or having one big party with plenty of food.
Their beautiful function space, Makers Hall, is located on the first floor. The possibilities are endless with the layout design and it is a light filled space that is perfect for celebrating with your guests. The space can hold up to 200, for a cocktail wedding reception setting. Adjacent to the Makers Hall is the Makers Bar, which is a great space to host your ceremony, which can also accommodate 50 seated and up-to 100 cocktail style. This Makers bar can transform into a dance floor and has a space for a wedding band or DJ, to party the night away.
A menu that would easily satisfy a big appetite
Let’s talk about the Craft & co menu! Having tried the food at a wedding there, we have to say it is incredible and no surprise that we often hear people raving about it! We have actually gone back a few times just to indulge in the food. They offer cocktail and seated packages, which we feel are both affordable and delicious, from plated mains, share plates and canapés prepared by world class chefs that are so well presented. All of the menus are seasonal and include fresh ingredients which truly adds the icing on the cake, with a cherry on top.
Currently on their menu for mains is maple brined slow roast brisket with parsnip puree gremolataand red wine jus and another option for mains, Cider-glazed pork with buttered veg and herb puree yum! If you are a fan of seafood they also have pan fried barramundi with smoked eggplant & tahini puree and white wine & nduja sauce. They have fantastic vegetarian options too, like Cauliflower kyiv, almond puree and beetroot remoulade, delicious! If you are a sweet tooth you are sure to love their dessert menu. Check out their White chocolate baked mascarpone, milk crumb with basil & pedro ximenez strawberries or why not try the Orange & rosewater doughnuts, ginger & cinnamon sugar with vanilla bean anglaise. Dietary requirements will also be accommodated upon request prior to your event. Sounds amazing doesn’t it? Well it is! We highly recommend trying their food and they also offer complimentary tasting for the couple.
A fantastic selection of beer and gin
Moving on to the beer. The Craft & co also distill their own spirits and brew beer onsite, providing delectable beverages. One of our favourite details are the gin bonbonnieres. Such an awesome wedding favor for guests to take home. You can also personalise the labels! This is what one of our couples who had their wedding in April this year had to say.
“We chose the Craft and co because it had everything we wanted; it had a beautiful relaxed space that we could fill with our friends, family and some colourful flowers. Another major draw card was the great selection of beers and gin that they make. Gavin (Events Manager) was easy to work with and knew how to put on a party. The highlight of the night would be getting the important ceremony done and having fun on the dance floor with the band.”
A wedding venue surrounded by street art
Let’s just add one more reason as to why we, as wedding photographers, love the Craft & co so much. Not only do we get to take some beautiful images within the venue, but also some fabulous street portraits in the surrounding streets of Collingwood. We have been scouting the area for gorgeous backdrops and have discovered some hidden gems only a few feet away. From vibrant murals to old buildings with charm, Collingwood really has a special inner city Melbourne vibe and a truly great location for modern couples.
